GLOBALG.A.P. Version 6 is Coming
As with many things in life, once you master compliance for current food safety requirements, something changes. GLOBALG.A.P. is no different – version 6 is coming and a mandatory compliance date is currently set for January 2024. Let us keep up with those changes and help you implement them so that you can keep producing at top potential without having to worry about interpreting, revising and implementing new rules. We’ll go over what’s changing and what you need to do to stay compliant.
What’s changing?
· The scope of products covered by GLOBALG.A.P. will be expanded to include new product categories such as spices, tea, aquatic plants, and palms
· The suite of documents (including the standard) will be updated and streamlined
· The structure of the standard will be aligned with other GFSI recognized schemes
· Animal welfare indicators will be included in the standard
· New food safety hazard criteria will be included based on the Codex harmonized criteria for food safety hazards
In order to stay compliant with these new requirements, you’ll need to:
· Expand your scope of products covered if you plan on introducing any of the new product categories mentioned above
· Update and streamline your document suite accordingly
· Align your structure with other GFSI recognized schemes
· Include animal welfare indicators in your standard
· Introduce new food safety hazard criteria based on the Codex harmonized criteria for food safety hazards
These are just some of the changes coming down the line with GLOBALG.A.P.’s version 6 release – a mandatory compliance date for which is currently set for January 2024.
